Is a Door-to-Door Luton Airport Cab Service Worth Booking from Kingston?
For a solo traveller with a backpack, the train can work. It is a long trip, though. From Kingston you would head into Waterloo, cross London to St Pancras or London Bridge for a Thameslink train to Luton Airport Parkway, then take the shuttle up to the terminal.
For a couple with cases, a family or anyone on an early flight, a door to door Luton airport cab service makes far more sense. One car, one fixed price for everyone and no platforms. For the first flights of the day, the early trains may not get you there in time at all.
Luton Airport Pickup, Arrivals and Meet and Greet
Flying back into Bedfordshire late? Your driver follows the flight number in real time, so whether you touch down early or two hours behind schedule, the car is there and the agreed fare holds.
With meet and greet, your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and helps with your bags. Without it, they call you after you land and tell you where the car is. Give us a mobile number that works abroad, just in case.

Luton Airport Drop-Off for Departures
There is only one terminal at Luton, which keeps things simple. The driver pulls into the departures set-down lane beside the main building. Stopping time there is limited and the airport charges for using the zone, so keep passports to hand and you will be inside within a couple of minutes.
Journey Details
Luton is one of the longer runs from Kingston. Here is what to expect.
Route via M1 and Journey Time
Most drivers join the M25 at junction 12 via the A308 and the M3, or at junction 10 via the A3. They then head clockwise past the airport junctions and the M40 to junction 21, where the M1 begins. From there it is a short run north to junction 10 and the airport approach road.
In clear traffic, that is around 55 minutes. At busy times it can take an hour and a half. These are typical figures to plan with, not promises.
Distance and Traffic Hotspots
The trip is about 38 miles. The slow spots are well known. The M25 between junctions 12 and 16 is busy at most times of day, the M1 from junction 6a up to junction 10 clogs in the rush hour, and roadworks on either motorway can add time. If the M25 is blocked, some drivers prefer to cut through London via the A406 North Circular and pick up the M1 at Staples Corner.
Luton Airport Cars
Low-cost flights often mean small cabin bags, while family holidays mean big cases. Choose the car that fits.
Saloon / Estate / MPV / 8 Seater Minibus
- Saloon, four seats and room for a pair of big suitcases, the everyday choice
- Estate, the same four seats with a long boot for extra cases, skis or a buggy
- MPV, six seats and space for roughly four large cases, see our 6 seater taxi
- 8 seater, seven or eight seats for big families and groups, see our 7 seater taxi
Planning Around an Early Flight
Plenty of Luton departures leave before 7am. For those, we usually suggest a pickup from Kingston between 3am and 4am, depending on your airline and your bags. The roads are quiet then, so the trip is often at the quicker end of our estimate.
Coming Home Late from Luton
Evening arrivals from Europe often land after 10pm. By then, the trains through central London are winding down and the trip back to Kingston can stretch past midnight. A car booked in advance means you walk out of arrivals, meet your driver and go straight home on the M1 and M25.

Pickups cover Ham, Richmond, Twickenham and every other part of our patch. Fancy a shorter run next time? The Kingston to Heathrow Airport taxi is just up the road, and our Kingston to Stansted Airport transfers page covers the other big budget airport.
Luton Airport Taxi Phone Number
Call 020 3740 2841 to book or change a Luton transfer. The line is answered 24 hours a day, so a 2am call about a rescheduled flight is no problem. If you are heading north by train instead, our Kingston to Euston cab is a shorter run.
