Why London Bridge is worth a car from Kingston
There is no direct train from Kingston to London Bridge. Most people go into Waterloo and change, or take a train to Clapham Junction and another from there. With luggage, a child or a hospital appointment, that is a lot of platforms. A car keeps it simple, and the route stays south of the river almost all the way.
Trains from London Bridge
The rebuilt station now has one of the biggest concourses in London. Thameslink trains leave here for St Pancras and on to Bedford, Cambridge and Peterborough, Southern trains head for Sussex and Surrey, and Southeastern runs out to Kent. If you want to avoid the West End, it is a very handy alternative.

Guy's Hospital taxi from Kingston
Guy's Hospital stands next to the station on St Thomas Street, and plenty of Kingston patients travel there for regular care. Going by car means no stairs, no changes and a seat all the way home after a tiring day.
Book the morning trip, give us a rough finish time, and ring when you are done. The driver comes back for you. If walking to the entrance is hard, say so and we will plan the closest stop.
The route from Kingston
London Bridge is about 13 miles from Kingston. Drivers usually take the A3 to Wandsworth, follow the river to Vauxhall, then cut through Kennington and Elephant and Castle before heading up Borough High Street. Keeping south of the Thames avoids the busiest bridges.
Allow about 50 minutes in light traffic and 70 minutes in the rush hour. These are typical estimates. London Bridge lies inside the Congestion Charge zone, which applies during charging hours.
Which side of the station?
Two streets serve the station. Tooley Street is on the river side near Hay's Galleria, while St Thomas Street is on the hospital side beside The Shard. They share one concourse, yet the right side can save you a long walk, so let us know your preference.
The Shard, Borough Market and the City
Plenty of our London Bridge bookings have nothing to do with trains. Dinner at The Shard, a Saturday at Borough Market or an early start at an office in the City all start with a car from Kingston. For evenings out, book the return at the same time, and for a group, our 7 seater taxi takes up to eight.
Early starts for City workers
Bank, Monument and Liverpool Street are just over the river, and a lot of our dawn bookings are City workers. We will drop you at the station or take you straight to your building, whichever is quicker that morning.
Thameslink to the north and south
London Bridge is a useful Thameslink stop for trips north to Cambridge, Bedford and Peterborough without changing at St Pancras, and south towards Brighton. For Kingston passengers, a car to London Bridge can replace two trains and a Tube journey, especially early in the morning.
Borough Market weekends
Borough Market draws food lovers from all over London, and Saturday mornings are busy. A car drops you close to the market and collects you later with your shopping, which beats carrying bags of produce home on two trains.
Cars for London Bridge runs
Saloons carry four passengers with two big cases, and estates add luggage room. Our 6 seater taxi suits families. Child seats are available on request.
Collecting patients after treatment
After a hospital appointment at Guy's, many patients prefer not to travel by train. Book the return when you book the outward trip, or call us when you are ready, and the driver will meet you close to the hospital entrance.
