Kingston to London City Airport Taxi Transfers (route, time, distance)

London City Airport is about 18 miles from Kingston, on the far side of London in the Royal Docks. There are two sensible ways to get there.

The northern route runs up the A3 through Wandsworth, along the Embankment and The Highway into Limehouse, then east on the A13 to the airport. It is direct, but it crosses the Congestion Charge zone during charging hours. The southern route stays south of the river on the A205 South Circular, then crosses the Thames by the Blackwall Tunnel or the Silvertown Tunnel, which opened in April 2025 and comes up close to the Royal Docks. Both tunnels now carry a user charge.

Expect around 55 minutes in light traffic and 80 minutes or more in the morning peak. These are typical times. Your driver picks the route that looks quickest when you set off.

London City Airport Pickups with Meet and Greet

Most people flying into City are heading home after a short trip and want to get back to Kingston quickly. We track your flight, so the car is ready when you land, even if you are early.

Choose meet and greet and the driver will be standing in arrivals with your name. Skip it and they ring once you land. City is small, so you are at the car in a minute or two.

London City Airport is compact, so the walk from the car to check-in is short.

LCY Airport Drop-Off and Pickup

There is a single, compact terminal on Hartmann Road at LCY, so nothing to choose and very little walking.

Taxi to London City Airport Departures

Your driver pulls up at the front of the terminal. Check-in at City is famously quick, yet weekday morning security queues still build, so plan to be there an hour before a short-haul departure.

Minicab from LCY Arrivals

Pickups for arrivals are a short walk from the exit. The driver will text or call with the exact spot, or stand inside with a sign if you chose meet and greet.

Executive Cars to City Airport

Many LCY passengers are travelling for work. If you would like a more polished arrival, or a quiet car to take calls in on the way home, choose an executive car. It carries up to four passengers with cabin bags and a couple of cases.

Business Travel Cabs to LCY

Kingston has a lot of offices, and companies book us for regular staff runs to City Airport. We can manage several travellers on different flights, track each one and email a receipt after every journey for expenses. Call us to talk about regular business travel.

Why Business Travellers Choose City Airport

London City Airport is small, quick to move through and close to Canary Wharf and the City. For a day trip to Edinburgh, Amsterdam or Frankfurt, those saved minutes matter. From Kingston, a pre-booked car is usually far easier than the train into Waterloo, the Jubilee line and the DLR, especially with a laptop bag and a suit carrier.
